If you’re in Environmental Geoscience, you are bound to know about an intriguing opportunity for the students of Lake Forest High School. The Great Lakes Film Festival is a project dedicated to inform viewers about the lakes and what is happening to our habitat. The goal is to raise awareness of what humans are doing and how we’re damaging such a gift we are fortunate to have right here in our town.

Overall, The Great Lakes “serves as the drinking water resource for 38 million people and is an important part of our community’s history,” says Enviro teacher Mrs. Davenport. The job of students was to create a 2-3 minute video “that will raise the profile and interest of the rich ecology, culture, and history of the Great Lakes and the surrounding communities. The videos can cover a wide variety of topics to increase the public’s understanding of the importance of Lake Michigan to Illinois’ history and development,” said Mrs. Davenport. The top videos chosen will be shown at The Great Lakes Film Festival. Make sure to check it out and support your fellow environmentalists!
