This Saturday, the Scouts Wrestling team headed down to Lakes Community High School for the official IHSA 2A Regional Meet. As a team, the Scouts placed fourth behind Antioch (208.5 points), Grayslake Central (143 points) and Mundelein (140.5 points) with a score of 136.5.

Individually, five wrestlers will be moving on to Sectionals: Truman Thuente, who took third place in the 195 weight class, Jackson Meadow (third place in the 138), Bennett Dugan (second place in 126), Charlie Heydorn (third place in 120) and Maxwell Yates (second place in 106).

Five additional wrestlers, including lone senior TJ Cottam and junior standout Jack Heydorn, placed fourth in Sectionals to add to the team total.

“These kids all work hard, love the sport of wrestling, and know how to communicate with teammates,” said Head Coach Matt Fiordirosa.

Following an almost-perfect season, the Scouts are heading into the rest of the postseason confident.

“We really want to get guys down to the state tournament again,” said Fiordirosa.
