The Lake Forest Scouts Girls’ Gymnastics Team began its season this week, and the girls are hopeful to continue their intensity and success from last year’s impressive season. Coached by Mrs. Megan Miles, the team hopes to send many girls to the IHSA Sectional and State tournaments. Last year, the lone Scout at Sectionals was sophomore Kristin Fisch who placed second in Floor and advanced to State.

This season, the team is full of talented underclassmen who will bring their talent from their club gymnastics experience to LFHS. This year’s team is off to a strong start. They are expected to be stronger than the previous couple years due to the talented new members who all have been training in clubs since they were around three years old.

As a three year varsity member, junior Sophie Prozument will lead the Scouts through the 2018-2019 season as the solo varsity captain. Along with Prozument, the team has two new powerhouse freshmen, Madison Miks and Taylor Cekay, both of whom have plenty of club experience. Returning from an impressive season last year is Kristin Fisch who will be a big competitor for the Scouts this year. Two other key returning members for the Scouts will be Nelli Fleming and Gianna Pasquesi.

While the team is comprised of mostly underclassmen, their extensive club experience has long prepared them for the tough competition this upcoming winter.

In just under two weeks, Head Coach Megan Miles and her talented group will open their season in their own gym with a meet against Lake Zurich and Warren Township on November 28th. Be sure to keep a lookout for this year’s Varsity Girls’ Gymnastics Team!
