VERNON HILLS, Ill.–Monday could not have gone better for the Girls water polo team (4-3). It all began with the surprise of taking the luxurious coach bus to Vernon Hills, a treat that any athlete in the school can appreciate. Their night ended with a remarkable shut-out on the Vernon Hills Cougars in a 14-0 victory.
Starting goalie Amalia Liguori-Coneff, was channeling her inner Olympic goalie for all four quarters of Monday’s game. She was on absolute lock down, and nothing was gonna get past her. Captain Holly Malnati had high praise for all of her teammates as well, “In all honesty, I think that was the best we’ve ever played. We were communicating and tried some new techniques, our Tilted Towers drive killed it!”
Cooperation and communication was at an all time high for the Scouts, junior Flynn McClellan told TFS, “Like any game, there are things we can always improve on, but as a team we are really starting to work together and communicate in the pool. Everyone contributed to the game and we will continue to work hard as the season goes on.”
Girls water polo makes the hike to Niles West on Wednesday as they look to continue their winning streak.
