LAKE FOREST, Ill.- Today, students from the modern global issues class will come together for a fair in the Lake Forest High School commons. The annual fair, which runs during third and fourth period, showcases presentations and informational posters from over 90 groups on different global issues present today. The issues include HIV/AIDS, women’s rights, workers’ rights, child abuse, and more.
Each group is tasked with presenting background information and possible solutions to their issue. The overall goal is for students to come up with a non-governmental organization (NGO) that can be a viable solution in solving their issue. Throughout the day, students and staff will walk through different presentations to determine which one is the best. In the end, the best presentation will be rewarded ‘investment money’ that they can then donate to their NGO.
The modern global issues class and its teachers, Mr. Douglas Kotlarczyk, Mrs. Kelly McKee, Ms. Anais Childress, and Ms. Nancy Micksch, are excited to host yet another interactive and influential event this year. A special thanks goes out to Mrs. McKee, the principal organizer of the event.
