Janel Sharman

Janel Sharman

Junior Janel Sharman is a shining example of the ideal high school student. Whether she is fearlessly leading the choir through new material or conducting an interview in New Media, she  makes sure that everyone’s voice is heard and that everyone feels important and accounted for.

“She not only has great ideas, but she is also expert in leading group discussions,” junior Vince Boberski said. “Every time there is an empty space where a leader should be, she steps up and fills it and somehow seems like she isn’t doing anything extra.”

Janel has been involved with New Media since her freshman year. Last year, she was the script supervisor on the team that created the short film “Out For A Long Time,” which ended up winning the All American High School Film Festival.

She is also a dedicated member of Foresters and Madrigal, and she also participated in Bel Cantos, the freshman and sophomore girl’s holiday choir.

Choir is an area where Janel shines because of her music experience from an early age. She is an accomplished piano player and guitar player, who also writes her own songs. Janel has amazing music taste. Her favorite bands include The Lumineers, Simon & Garfunkel, and The Beatles. Janel is one of the president-elects of Foresters and everyone really looks up to her.

“Working with Janel in choir and Mads is so fun because she always makes you feel comfortable and loved,” junior Grace Thomas said. “She manages to make even the most boring stuff enjoyable with her contagious laugh and positive attitude.”

Despite having a stacked schedule with her classes and extracurriculars, Janel is a super fun person to be around and makes amazing playlists that will make you feel like the main character. She also loves Gilmore Girls and will embrace Gilmore Girls fall to the fullest extent.

“Janel doesn’t let business step into living or vice versa,” Boberski said. “That’s just the kind of worker Janel is.”
