Lucy Schlachtenhaufen

Friends of sophomore Lucy Schlachtenhaufen know to turn to her when it comes to fashion advice. From striped flare pants to beige camis, vintage tee shirts to floral ruffle skirts, Schlachtenhaufen gets creative with a variety of patterns, colors, and time periods.

“Lucy has the best sense of style,” said sophomore Annie Davis. “She told me that she already has picked out her first three weeks of back to school outfits.”

In a world where most fashion trends are fleeting, Schlachtenhaufen builds timeless outfits from thrift stores or hand-me-downs she receives from her mom or sister.

“I love her bold choices,” said sophomore Charlotte Patel. “She always combines the most unexpected pieces together in a way that works, and it inspires me to reach out of the box and try new styles.”

Even more, Schlachtenhaufen’s fearless ability to experiment with unique styles and diversify her wardrobe reflects her outgoing, flexible personality.

“Lucy is always down to do anything and she makes life so much more fun,” said Davis.

“It doesn’t matter how long you’ve known her or how close you are to her, she will reach out to anyone to make them feel included,” said sophomore Caroline Kaiser.

Kaiser said she met Schlachtenhaufen for the first time on a Google Meet, but it was intimidating to get to know people behind a screen. However, on the first day of in-person class, Kaiser felt comfortable with her immediately.

“Right after she walked into the room she started talking to me and not in a forced or generic way,” Kaiser said. “After just a few more classes, we began to hang out outside of school.”

Outside of school, Schlachtenhaufen is a serious soccer player. She was an aggressive outside forward on the frosh/soph team last year, and plans to play again this year.

Beyond her adventurous spirit and dedication on the field, Schlachtenhaufen is a compassionate friend.

“She is someone I know that I can always turn to,” said Patel. “She constantly looks out for me and puts my feelings before hers.”
