Mrs. Heather Song
If you are in need of information about Tour de France, a good laugh, or a dose of sarcasm, French teacher Heather Song, more commonly known as Madame, is your go-to person.
Although French students miss hearing Roxy the dog and the tune of two trombones played by her two children, Freddy and Julia, in the background of a Google Meet call, the return of Song to room 040 was very exciting.
Stepping into the energy of Song’s classroom will be the highlight of your day. With a love of teaching, it is apparent that Madame is there for her students.
“She genuinely cares about her students and their wellbeing,” said senior Alex Miller.
Madame, who teaches AP French and French 3H, supports her students in the classroom and through her Instagram page @mmesonglfhs, whether that be with college decisions, students featured in the Friday Five, posting memes, or spreading optimism wherever possible.
The Northern Iowa University graduate has a contagious laugh that echoes in her room as she she shares memes and gifs in her daily slideshow (submissions from students sometimes make the presentation!)
Music is a big part of being a Frenchie. Each year, French students participate in Manie Musicale, which is essentially a March Madness bracket, but instead of teams, it highlights some of the most popular French music of the year. Her favorite French artist is Stromae, and you can explore of her favorite French music here.
“Madame Song is one of best teachers I’ve ever had at LFHS. She truly cares about her students and makes class entertaining while also ensuring her students are learning!” said senior Kaylie Gottshall.
