Carl Carlson
Carl Carlson. Carl. Carlson.
Carl Carlson is a freshman truly worthy of his fascinating name. When Carl Carlson walks into a room, you know. He’s got an opinion about everything and waxes eloquent (and occasionally not so eloquent) about classes, current events, and whatever’s on his mind, whenever he gets the chance. He’s always looking for a fun time—even in strenuous math and science courses. He’ll tell you sports trivia and identify the polyatomic ions in one breath.
Although he’s not necessarily built like Khalil Mack, Carlson plays linebacker on the Freshman football team. His scrappiness and intensity elevate his play. Teammate Torian James said that, despite being an inviting presence in the classroom, when Carlson gets on the field, “He wants to hit somebody really hard. He wants to kill our opponents.”
Football coach and Wellness teacher Mr. Joe Busse described Carlson as a “fun and energetic kid who takes life seriously enough to succeed, but who is also able to unwind and be kind.” Busse said, “He excels on and off the field, but never acts too cool for school.”
Carlson’s Teaching Assistant, Lindsey Asmussen, seconded Mr. Busse’s assessment of Carlson’s character, saying, “He is always willing to participate no matter what. He’s really good at including other people. He wants them to have fun.”
Although he is the third consecutive Carl Carlson in his family, this Carl Carlson is truly one-of-a-kind.
