Taylor Ross
Though she may be tiny, freshman Taylor Ross is a force to be reckoned with.
As one of LFHS Theatre’s newest additions, Ross commanded the virtual stage in August, taking on a very dynamic lead role in the Senior Directed One Acts.
Cast member sophomore Connor Boyle called his experience working with her “an extreme pleasure.”
“She expertly portrayed a mildly deranged yoga instructor,” Boyle said. “I was impressed to see a freshman as fearless as Taylor – she really killed it.”
A feat that most underclassmen fail to tackle early on is the struggle with self-confidence; for Ross, however, self-confidence seems to be her specialty. The young actress knows how to wow a crowd, whether she’s doing it comedically, dramatically, or simply through being herself.
“I knew I wanted to work with Taylor from the moment I saw her read,” Ross’ One Acts director, senior Mary Clayton, said. “Her talent was obvious, but her enthusiasm towards the production was what really drew me to her.”
Senior Yana Savitsky, another cast member of Ross’, referred to her as “simply incredible.”
“She is unquestionably herself, and is just so kind to everyone around her,” Savitsky said. “Despite being the only one who didn’t know anyone, Taylor didn’t shy away from the challenges of making new friends and made us all laugh along the way. She definitely impressed me with her role and the wide range of ability she has. Seriously, I cannot wait to see her grow even further.”
With only a few months of high school under her belt, Ross has already involved herself in all three of LFHS Theatre’s fall productions: through acting in the One Acts and Twisted Tales of Poe as well as working behind the scenes for Elephant’s Graveyard. Across all opportunities, the exuberant freshman has proven her passion for the art and her determination to make her voice heard.
Aside from her production work, Ross has utilized the theatre classes to further her involvement in the department and the community she is learning to love. Her teacher, Mr. Joe Pulio, anticipates greatness from the young actress in her years to come.
“She is a joy to work with,” Pulio said. “I think she’s someone we’re going to see on the stage quite a bit in the next four years.”
