Mrs. Cheryl Kyrias
What better day of the week to talk about History teacher Mrs Cheryl Kyrias than a Finn Friday?
For those of you who know Mrs Kyrias (and her presonas Cheryl, Meryl, and the occasional Deryl), she is a history teacher who makes class fun. Her classroom environment can flip from a brain break dance party to strict note taking in just seconds. But even during the lectures, she is still able to make the class interesting.
It is always a time in room 338.
Whether you love history or it’s not your thing, Mrs. Kyrias’ passion and positive energy towards the topics she teaches makes the class a student favorite.
“There’s no other teacher that makes 1st period something to look forward to. Whenever you need a laugh, some inspiration or even a picture of her adorable little son Finn to help brighten your day she’s always there,” senior Mary McKendry said. “Not only does Mrs.Kyrias make class intriguing, she also leads by example. She is an amazing teacher and friend who always goes out of her way to make sure her kids are successful. She’s a great person all around and any kid that gets the pleasure of having her should truly feel blessed.”
Along with her impeccable teaching skills, she has also received multiple degrees from The University of Illinois. The most impressive part of it all is she earned those while working a full time job and raising her adorable son Finn.
When most people ask her why, her response is just, ‘I love school’; and her passion for education helps keep all students engaged and successful in her class.
“She is a machine,” senior Henry Pickus said.
