Mr. Dan Maigler

Mr. Dan Maigler

While the four years at LFHS are filled with tons of fun, they are often accompanied by anxiety. It can be an extremely stressful time filled with the pressure of grades, athletics, college applications, and high expectations.

Luckily, social worker Dan Maigler is one person who is always there to listen, no matter the day of the week or time. He makes sure that all of his students know they have someone to talk to and can share anything. Even if you haven’t met him, he is welcoming and kind-hearted from the moment you step into his office, ready to try and make your day a little better.

“You can really go to him and talk about anything and expect him not to judge you for your decisions. He makes sure you know from the first time you meet him that it’s a safe space to talk,” junior Carley Walker said.  “He is extremely empathetic and lets you know that you and your problems matter.

Having worked at LFHS for over a decade, Mr. Maigler knows exactly the types of stressors students can face during their time in high school.

Even during this time in quarantine, he is still checking up on students and making sure everyone is receiving the support they need. One of the things that students love about him is how he makes every student feel like they belong and that they know they can trust him with anything they tell him.

“The first thing he says when you go into his office is ‘hello friend,’ which instantly puts you and him on equal levels. This really helps establish trust between him and his students,” Walker said.

Next time you feel like you need to talk to someone, try reaching out to Mr. Maigler as he is someone who can help make the bad situations seem a little better.
