Mrs. Melissa Doucette

Always willing to give a helping hand, Mrs. Melissa Doucette works to bring out the best in her students’ artistic abilities. She inspires students with her amazing talent and encouragement.

She can see the potential that every student has and pushes them to fulfill it. “Mrs. Doucette is the best teacher; she is always willing to help and push you to try new things,” senior Grace Hardy, a student in her AP art class, said. “She has pushed me to create so many cool things in ceramics that I never thought I could.”

If you’ve heard the name Doucette around the school you might also be thinking of her two daughters who attend LFHS. Besides being the great teacher we all know her as, senior Nicole Doucette and sophomore Sophie Doucette know her as their amazing mom.

“It’s fun having my mom in school because I get to stop by her room and say hi once in a while, and it just makes school more fun with her there,” says Nicole. She also adds that her mom is “the most loving person.”

Behind all her work in the Art Department, she is also in charge of the yearbook. She works very hard organizing the yearbook club and helping them to create a great yearbook that represents our school.

Doucette has a way to create meaningful bonds with all her students; she is “super understanding” as Hardy puts it. In any situation, she is a teacher at this school you can turn to with any need, whether it is art-related or not.

Junior Wilson Irvin describes her as “the best.” Her cheery attitude will always radiate through the classroom and it’s always a joy to be in her class. “She never fails to brighten my day,” adds Irvin.
