Kate Valenti

Despite the pressures of school, athletics, and  summers in the northwoods backpacking, freshman Kate Valenti keeps things lighthearted and fun with her kind but contagious spirit. 

“Kate is the most positive person I know bringing her enthusiasm on and off the court; she never fails to show her commitment to the team. She is always so hardworking, and wants to improve and learn new skills,” said freshman Mary Rylance, who plays volleyball with Kate.

For the past five summers Kate has been going to summer camp, and this past year spent nine days backpacking in Minnesota. The leadership and communication skills she learned has helped keep her grounded and work through the tough challenges high school can bring on. 

Her endurance and determination to win is a reflection of the struggles she’s encountered on and off the trail in the toughest conditions and longest of miles. 

One of her best friends and former cabin mates, freshmen Josephine van Esbroeck, says, “Her bright personality is like a ray of sunshine that never fails to motivate me and keep me positive even in dire situations; she truly is the most selfless and sweetest individual you’ll meet.”
