Nate Field

Senior Nate Field is the captain of the lacrosse team and an intramural basketball champion who uses his calm and quiet demeanor to build himself an excellent reputation here.

Lacrosse season is approaching and Field is hoping to lead the team deep into State. With a lot of young players coming back from injury, the team is hoping they can step in and make a difference.

Teammate Luke Paschke has high praise for his captain.

“He’s a good leader. He makes sure everyone knows what they’re doing,” said Paschke.

While every captain should be a good leader, Field is also a phenomenal player. He has been on the varsity team for four years and has improved every year. Last season the attacker scored an astonishing 44 goals and assisted on 21 goals, in just 24 games. He had almost three times the number of points as he had games played. Luke Paschke said that the source of Field’s effectiveness is his ability to “keep his head up” and “find the open man.”

Colleges took an interest in Field early on in his ,and he committed to play lacrosse at Hamilton College at the end of the summer following his junior year where he earned all-academic and all-conference honors.

Although a state championship is the main goal, Field recently won the LFHS intramural basketball championship. His team, The Hogs, easily defeated The Milkmen in the championship. Nate is just as valued on his basketball team as he is on his lacrosse team, even characterized as the “glue” of the team by teammate Andrew Crawford.

“Nate held the team together whenever we started unraveling. I don’t think we would’ve been able to win it without him,” said Crawford. Field’s ability to unite a team helped the Hogs win it all and hopefully it will help push the lacrosse team deep into the playoffs.

Although successful student athletes aren’t out of the ordinary here at LFHS,  Field is the epitome of success. The college-level athlete participates in multiple AP courses and extra curriculars. Senior Michael Vallone jokingly said that he’s become a nerd.

“He often stayed home on weekends to perfect his arithmetic skills,” Vallone said. Field’s ability to sacrifice time with friends to hone his craft, whether it be math or lacrosse, is just one way he shows he’s a hard worker. He puts 100% effort into all of his endeavors and shows that, if you work hard enough, you can succeed in anything.
