Mrs. Sara Dreiling
Beyond teaching her English classes, Mrs. Sara Dreiling has dedicated herself to all things speech and theatre at LFHS.
As an advisor to the Speech Team, she runs meetings every Monday in which students practice their pieces for upcoming tournaments. Students compete in various categories that include dramatic and humorous duets, dramatic and humorous monologues, poetry, prose, and both original and already written speeches.
“She gives really amazing advice when I am working on a new piece,” said senior Annabelle Lamb.
Mrs. Dreiling always makes herself available after school to work on the pieces with students and helps them improve their delivery, memorization, expressions, and pacing. She is incredibly patient with students and always helps the students perform extremely well, even if they are difficult or complicated.
“In my piece this year, there are many different characters I have to portray,” said sophomore Elizabeth Miczuga. “She has really helped me improve upon this.”
Not only does Mrs. Dreiling help speech students improve, but she creates a very positive environment.
She “exudes a passion for speech team that is integral to our team’s success,” said Senior and Speech Team Captain Lara Keim.
Mrs. Dreiling is also heavily involved in theatre productions. This year, she was the advisor for the Senior-Directed One Acts, which were a huge undertaking as a incredibly high number of students auditioned (59). She was incredibly helpful to all of the directors in helping with the process of casting and rehearsing all in the span of one week.
Furthermore, she is involved in the freshman-sophmore play as Assistant Technical Director and ITS advisor.
“She dedicates so much time and energy to the Theatre department and I really admire her for that,” said Junior Tech Crew member and ITS Junior Representative Celeste Tomaselli.
Without tech, LFHS plays would be simply impossible. Mrs. Dreiling’s leadership has taken the level and quality of theatre up at LFHS. She always works hard to ensure that productions are the best they can be. Mrs. Dreiling is incredibly valuable to the entire theatre community at LFHS and all of the students that partake in productions.
“She always knows how to help a production run smoothly,” said Lamb. “I’m eternally grateful to have come across as amazing a mentor and advisor as Mrs. Dreiling”.
