Kai Kroeger

Kai Kroeger

As a senior there are a lot of things that are going through your mind as you approach your final days in high school. You are thinking about all the college applications you have to fill out, where you want to apply, and maintaining the proper grade level to get into the colleges you want. For Kai Kroeger though, his senior year was even more stressful than others because he has an added task on top of what a normal senior would have.

Kroeger came into his senior year ranked number three nationally for punting. As senior Charlie Davis and longtime friend of Kai would put it, “Krogs has a boom stick of a leg.”

He was talking back and forth with several different Division 1 colleges, looking for a school that fits both his academic and football needs as a student-athlete.  After a successful senior season, Kai committed to the University of South Carolina Gamecocks.

Kroeger not only excels on the field but off the field as well. He is an extraordinary student and is a delight to be around both as a classmate and friend. He always brings that never-quit attitude and applies it to whatever he is doing.

“Kai is a very funny guy to be around. He has a great sense of humor,” said senior AJ Shaw. “Kai is a very talented athlete with great punting abilities. He works very hard on his punting skills. He’s fun to be around.”

Kai and his older brother Christian didn’t get along in the early stages of life. They had their differences but soon after Christian left for college, there was something missing. They instantly became closer as Kai’s training progressed to get him to where he is now and his brother couldn’t be more proud.

“Being over four years apart put a strain on our relationship in our growing up years. But now that we have both gotten older, our connection couldn’t be stronger,” Christian said. “One thing is clear though. I truly couldn’t be more proud of the man my little brother is turning into. I’ll be there to support him throughout his whole life.”
