Emily Bertram
When you’re having a rough day and need someone to raise your spirits, junior Emily Bertram is the person to go to. Her lively personality and uplifting humor are exactly what you need to flip any bad day into a good one.
“She is always there for you; if I ever need to rant to someone, she is always the first person I go to,” said junior Sydney Rubenstein.
During the school day, Emily spends her 5th period as a TA for Integrated Wellness, where she is paired with a buddy with special needs and they play games, sports, and go on walks.
“She has gone out of her way to make a special connection with each student,” said Rubenstein, who is also a TA for the class. “If there’s a student that’s sitting alone during the class, she’ll always go out of her way to go talk to them and make a connection.”
Emily’s desire to help those in her community extends outside of the classroom. Every Sunday, Emily devotes her day to Equestrian Connection, an equine therapy program for special needs children and adults.
“Emily works super hard and that shows with her dedication to Equestrian Connection,” junior Erica O’Neil said. “She cares about everyone over herself and makes sure everyone, no matter who they are, is included.”
