Shane Rodriguez

A lot of people know senior Shane Rodriguez as the varsity hockey goalie. Yet not many people know his resiliency, his hard working attitude and his pursuit of success.

Few people know resilience like Shane, who had to battle many injuries over the summer which sidelined him from doing the stuff that he enjoys most. Despite his setbacks, he worked harder and secured a spot on Varsity Hockey that he has been working so hard for.

“Shane and I have grown up together, and he never fails to light up a room with his attitude. Yet now more than ever, Shane has such a hardworking mindset, and he is always on that grind,” Teammate Drew Jacobs said. “There are sometimes where he wouldn’t want to leave the ice for hours.”

Aside from spending his winters on the frozen pond working hard to perfect his craft, Shane’s a huge football guy and an even bigger Bears fan. He loves cheering on the Bears despite his whole family being Packers fans. He loves to go out and throw the pigskin around with his friends and being outside and active.

“If you need a laugh, go to Shane,” said senior Jack Hartline “He’s quick to think of something funny and witty that’ll guarantee a laugh.”

While sometimes Shane might seem quiet on the outside, his friends describe him as a funny, caring, friendly person that really cares about his friends.

“Even during his injury, and even when he wasn’t able to leave his house, Shane was always first to ask how we were doing, and truly cared about what was going on in our lives,” said senior Luke Gulson, ”It is hard to tell whenever Shane is in a bad mood, because he always portrays a positive image.”
