Anthony Maranto
Senior Anthony Maranto is in the wind ensemble for percussion, which means he must commit to the rigorous practice regiment it demands. Despite the challenge, Maranto keeps his humorous self intact.
In fact, no matter the subject or stress, Maranto is quick to laugh. He will have you in stitches soon after you meet him.
“Anthony comes in with a positive attitude, and is always willing to work at learning new things,” said Mr. McBeath, instrumental music assistant.
Maranto made a highlight appearance recently in Croya’s Battle of the Bands. His band placed first over all. He also played his last talent show this year – opening the show with a bang. He loves all types of music and appreciates different genres. His playlists include anything from surf rock to jazz to funk to indie. Basically you name it, he listens to it.
“Anthony is a very funny guy with a good sense of humor; he’s fun to be around and one hell of a drummer,” said senior Sam Randall.
Recently, Maranto played a piece called Bonham at the percussion festival held in the DMT. Being a soloist on the drum kit, the pressure was on. Plus, the name of the piece harkens back to John Bonham, the legendary drummer for Led Zeppelin. Maranto powered through the difficult piece, even though he was forced to improvise when his music fell from his stand.
Despite the show going well, he still wished he would have done better. Maranto always wants to improve, and his drive to do so makes him who he is. It is a commendable trait, in music and in general.
”His personality is second to none,” said senior Garrett Carden.
