Kevin Staunton

There are people who exude happiness, and there are people who will fake enthusiasm to make you feel better. Then there are people who won’t waste your time with faux improvised humor or pseudo smiles. These unsung heroes may not receive too much credit, but without them nothing would ever be completed.

Junior Kevin Staunton keeps the world turning.

“Hearing Kevin’s cynical and dry sense of humor is often the best part of my day,” sophomore Kailey Albus said.

Staunton  is a member of Madrigals, All Shook Up, and LFHS’s newest ensemble Lowkey Treble. In all of these groups, Staunton brings his no nonsense attitude and attention to detail that ensures that everything will run smoothly.

This work ethic has proven invaluable to his group members. If things get out of hand in rehearsal, which happens about 50% of time in high school, Staunton can be counted on to right the ship.

“Kevin is really passionate about things he loves. I’ve been able to get to know him through a capella this past year,” senior Maddy Javier said.

Staunton has been an integral part of Lowkey Treble. Without his commitment and passion for the group, things could fall apart in a heartbeat.

(See that math reference? Staunton knows what it means – he’s in BC Calc as a junior)

It’s this passion that drives Staunton to make sure that everything he does is to the best of his ability. He not going to give up on something he cares about.

And yes, that means he’ll be there for friends too; just ask senior Nikole Tzioufas.

“Kevin in any given situation, whether I’m having a good or bad day, is always there,” she said.

Staunton is the guy we all want to be. A guy who works hard, gets things done, and has the selflessness to be there for his friends. And he doesn’t have the patience for false happiness.

And although Staunton’s reaction to giddy kids jumping in front of him smiling and dancing will probably be an exasperated sigh as he walks away, you can always count on him for a smile.

Just don’t push his buttons.
