Winter Spirit Week: Destress Before Finals

Winter Spirit Week: Destress Before Finals

Piper Rother, Staff Writer

With the much dreaded week of finals coming up, LFHS has activities planned next week to boost school spirit and ease stress of the students.

Winter spirit week has been a tradition at LFHS for many years, but this year junior and senior student council is adding activities every day in the hopes of boosting the joy before finals week and getting as many students to participate as possible.

“The holidays are right around the corner so it’s the perfect way for students to show their winter spirit and have some fun while studying for their tests,” said student body vice president Lainey Oneil.

To lighten up the mood of a stressful week, O’neil hopes to see all students participating. Below are the following ways you can join in on the fun next week.

‘Twas the Monday Before Finals Week, you can come enjoy Elf in your christmas pjs during your breaks. The movies will be played on the TVs throughout the school.

On Tuesday, Mad About Plaid, wear your favorite winter flannel. During lunch periods, anyone can come get a fun holiday photo taken by a photographer.

On Wednesday, Baby it’s Cold Outside, you can stay warm by wearing your winter hat, scarf and mittens. During lunch, join the student council for games like minute to win it and snowball toss!

On Thursday, Candy Cane Day, show your spirit by dressing up in red and white. Candy canes will also be handed out in the commons before school. On top of that, holiday trivia games will be played during all lunch periods.

Festive Friday is the time to bring out your ugliest Christmas sweater and favorite festive gear. On your way to class in the morning, you can grab a cup of hot cocoa.

“We don’t have many spirit weeks throughout the school year so when we do have them, it’s important to take advantage of the fun. For me, any excuse to dress up is an opportunity I will take,” said Student Body President Pride Haggerty.

Throughout the week, LFHS will be holding a coat drive where students can donate any coats to Chicago Public Schools.
