Scouts take second conference loss to Stevenson

After a big win against the Zion-Benton Zee-Bees, the Scouts were 2-3 this season and going to Stevenson’s homecoming game with the momentum of victory. Unfortunately, this momentum was not enough to carry them to the endzone.

The away seats were packed with Stevenson students, many having to park more than a mile away to get a good spot. Stevenson had a good start, inching ahead 4 points by completing 2 safeties in the first quarter. The first quarter ended 0-4.

The two teams battled until halftime with neither team scoring. With 8 minutes to go in the third quarter, Stevenson completed a 35-yard field goal upping their score to 7. Three minutes later, the Patriots completed a 49-yard pass for a touchdown, and after completing the PAT they leaped ahead to a score of 14-0.

Unfortunately, during the fourth quarter, Lake Forest was unable to answer those 14 points but held their ground sealing the final score.

The Scouts fought hard through the course of the game, but were slowly taken down by the Patriots. This marks the second conference loss for Lake Forest, placing them fifth overall in the North Suburban Conference.

Looking ahead, the Scouts are set to face off against the Lake Zurich Bears. The Bears have had a strong season with wins against Libertyville, Stevenson, and Zion-Benton, and currently sit with an undefeated conference record 4-0. This could prove to be a tough game for Lake Forest, as they have taken losses in the past to both Libertyville and Stevenson, but only time will tell.

Final Score: 14-0
