Payton Marzella

Whether it’s on the field or in school hallways, senior Payton Marzella is a leader who cuts no corners and works hard to become the best person she can be.

“She’s really just an all around sweet person,” said senior Natalie Waite. “Every time I talk to her it feels like she really puts a lot of effort into making you feel heard.”

Marzella has been involved in several sports throughout her high school career, including cross country and softball, and has left a heavy impact on both teams.

“I ran cross country with Payton and that’s kinda when we became close. We both got injured during the season and we still joke about running with a limp,” said junior Hannah Ziperstein. “Payton is one of the funniest people I know, and she is super committed to anything she does. She’s a great teammate and an overall great friend.”

Marzella has also been the co-team captain of the softball team for the 2021 season, where she has proven herself to be not only an amazing player, but also a supportive teammate.

“She is super fun and energetic and lights up the room any time she walks in. She is such a supportive teammate and tries her best at each (and every) game,” said sophomore Katy Beranak.

She is known on the team for being the one to always lift people’s spirits after a bad inning or shake off an error, which junior Christina Carris echoed by simply saying, “I legit love her. I could not ask for a better captain.”

But no matter which perspective you look at, it is undeniable that Payton Marzella is a great leader and has a bright future. Her spirit exemplifies what it means to be a good Scout, a good teammate, and a good person.
