Lex Zarek

Lex Zarek

Perhaps it’s her bright, booming voice, the permanent cup of iced coffee sported in hand, or her overtly contagious laugh.

Whatever it is you first notice about senior Lex Zarek, it’s bound to make you smile.

“Lex’s energy is so contagious and really lights up any room she enters,” said friend Mary Considine. “Her smile is so bright and her laugh is so infectious.”

Not only does Zarek make a great acquaintance, she also actively contributes to the Lake Forest community as an AP Environmental Science TA and a two-time Link Crew Leader.

Throughout her high school career, Zarek has been involved in a multitude of activities while committing herself to an academically rigorous schedule. Whether they’re on the dance or badminton team, her peers can attest to her natural leadership and effortlessly dedicated role.

“Two years on the dance team with Lex made her bright and positive spirit really shine,” said friend Tess Ivinjack, “Her smile is so contagious and she was such a great leader for all the other dancers on the team.”

Zarek is not slowing down her involvement in academics and extracurriculars anytime soon. Next year, she will be attending DePauw University in Greencastle, Indiana, where she plans to study Environmental Geoscience and Accounting. As an incoming freshman, Zarek is already involved in two honors programs at DePauw, the Honors Scholar Program and the Environmental Fellows Program.

Lex’s bright energy, academic promise, and community involvement make her stand out in a crowd-or, rather, a hallway.

“Lex and I have been friends for almost seven years now, and she remains one of the few people I can see nearly everyday and never get sick of,” said friend Mary Considine. “She is truly an amazing person and an amazing friend.”
