Carlye Reed

What happened

As our new Faculty Administrative Assistant, Carlye, was/is supposed to support our faculty and arrange for daily subs. Little did she know that she’d be helping to orchestrate the onboarding of over 50 Instructional Supervisors. She has done this job with dignity, patience, and used a tremendous amount of problem solving when it’s been called for! Carlye is amazing!

Meghan Duncan

What happened

Ever since the 8th grade this girl has stuck by my side and never let me down. I have struggled with self image and confidence since the 6th grade, and she has been one of the biggest factors that have helped me push through it. Never once has she faltered to pick me back up when I have fallen, and I know she’ll have my back for as long as I need her. And she does all of this with no want for recognition or thanks, which is why I am applying for her to win. Never once has she asked for a piece of gratitude or recognition for all of her good deeds, but me and everyone else around her knows she deserves it. She is truly one of a kind and I am so blessed to have her in my life.

Personal Message

Hey Meghan. I applied for you to get recognition because oh god you deserve it so much. You have been by my side for many years and all I can think of is just how grateful I am of you. Despite the many times I’ve let you down, you never once did the same to me. I love you crazy much and can’t picture a world without you in it. You’ve truly changed my life.

Ava Joelson

What happened

Ava has been there for me through many hard times in my life and she always knew what to say. She is one of the most kindest smartest people I have ever meet, and always had a smile that lighten up my day. She is a person who has the cutest most fabulous sense of style, and the kindest heart. When someone seems sad or someone is alone at the lunch table Ava comes to sit with them and ask how their day is going.

Personal Message

Hi Ava this is Isabella, hope your doing well, I saw this email and I just immediately  thought of you. You were there for me through thick and thin, and I will forever remember you for that. You are a wonderful person who showed me kindness in hard times. You are so smart and pretty, just always remember that.

Leah Pranke and Joe Harmsen

What happened

They make every single day better and better with their positive attitudes and encouragement. They are an inspiration to everyone and I haven’t met a student that isn’t excited to be in their class. They are there for everyone and put their needs aside to help others. They don’t stop until every student succeeds in their class and are for sure some of the best role models we have at LFHS.

Personal Message

You guys are the best!

She’ll contact people to check in on them, and gives the best advice. When I met Meghan, she had such a positive energy, making it irresistible to become her friend. She has an electric personality, and reaches out to anyone in need. Her kindness is unparalleled by anyone else, and I’m honored to know her.

Mrs. Miles

What happened

Mrs. Miles and her STS (Student to Student) club go above and beyond to help all the new students try to find a friendly face while they navigate a new school.  This year has been particularly difficult since we have only been in hybrid for a few weeks, but the club just held a Pumpkin painting event for new students and club members.

Mrs. Donna LaVitola

What happened

Mrs. LaVitola, while not new to the building, took on a new position this August as our Assessment & Resource Coordinator. Not only did she pull off a difficult new way to execute our Textbook Pick-up Week in August, but she has also successfully administered the SAT (seniors), PSAT/NMSQT (juniors), PSAT8 (8th graders), & a national testing day ACT! She has been amazing in a new role, making all of this happen despite so many challenges with the pandemic. Thank you, Donna.

Elaine Metz and James Mergl

What happened

After getting a bad grade on my geometry test, I was in the MRC so much. Mr. Mergl and Ms. Metz were so patient and helpful and worked with me through every last thing. They helped me stay motivated and believed in me no matter what. I seriously think I would’ve moved to a lower class by now if it weren’t for them. I see them taking time to help every single student no matter how busy they are. They really care about everyone who comes.

Personal Message

Thank you both so much for everything you guys do. School wouldn’t be the same without the MRC!
