College Corner: Week Five

Isabel Arevalo, Staff Writer

College Corner reviews five seniors every week on where they have decided to attend next year, what they’re excited for, and what they love about it.

Name: Emily Robinson

School: College of Charleston

Location: Charleston, South Carolina

Mascot: Cougars

Why? “Charleston has always stood out to me. The vibe there is perfect. Always warm, and just a small town where you can walk around. And it is so so so pretty there. I feel like I can always be at peace when at Charleston.”

What are you most excited for? “I am most excited for my gap semester I will be taking. Either in Ireland, Canada, Rome, or Italy. I feel like it’d be such a cool and fun experience and I can’t wait to see where I get to go.”

Name: Josh Cha

School: Southwestern University

Location: Georgetown, Texas

Mascot: Pirate

Why? “I knew southwestern was the choice for me because it managed to check all of the boxes. Great weather, great food, and close to a big city.”

What are you most excited for? “I’m most excited to meet new people from different places and for the lacrosse season.”

Name: Sam Rogers

School: Miami University

Location: Oxford, Ohio

Mascot: Redhawk

Why?  “I picked Miami of Ohio because a lot of my friends are going and it was an exceptional way to already have a social network going down there. Additionally, everyone who has gone to Miami University has mentioned how unbelievable their undergraduate experience was when they went to college. Lastly, my cousin and Lake Forest High School Alum, Kate Dempsey, attends Miami University currently!”

What are you most excited for? “I am excited to join my family in the fall!”

Name: Sarah Markee

School: Marquette University

Location: Millwakee, Wisconsin

Mascot: Golden Eagle

Why? “I picked Marquette because it felt like home when I first walked onto campus. The people there were so welcoming and it made me excited to go to school. Also, the academics that they offered for my major were unmatched. Starting in my first semester I am going to get practice in the classroom and get to experience what being a teacher is going to be like.”

What are you most excited for? “I’m so excited to meet new people, go to the basketball games and other events, and also to experience new things – especially since I’m driving to air force so I will be experiencing a very different way of life than the average college student.”

Name: Ally Page

School: Michigan State University

Location: East Lansing, Michigan

Mascot: Spartans

Why? “I have wanted to go to MSU since I was a little girl. Both my parents went to MSU, and hearing the stories they have told me from their glory days had made me want to be a spartan so badly!”

What are you most excited for? “What I am most excited for is the football games, rushing and joining a sorority and last but not least rooming with my childhood best friend who had parents go through MSU! They were also best friends with my parents so we are excited to recreate what they did in college!”
