Olivia Moe

Senior Olivia Moe is usually found creating art – whether it is an intricate animation, a drawing with brightly colored art pens in her sketchbook, or an online drawing made using a pen and a drawing pad.  She is incredibly versatile as an artist and is able to shine in many unique art styles.

Paging through her trusty sketchbook, you would find a variety of drawings full of color and an incredible amount of detail.  She is not only a naturally talented artist but always is practicing to improve her skills even more.

Most students limit themselves to one elective, but Olivia takes on three art classes: Graphic Design, Drawing, and Animation.  Senior Julia Tanna credits Olivia as “the most talented artist out there.”

She hopes to continue her art by pursuing a career in animation.  Ms. Bielski, her animation teacher, believes she should definitely pursue it as a career, as she “loves the process of making art.” Ms. Bielski “loves looking at her computer screen because when [she] come[s] across it, there is always something magical going on.”

“She really pushes the envelope, and I can see her gears turning when I introduce a mentor artist or I introduce something new, she’s very thoughtful about the way she incorporates it,” Bielski says with a smile.

Added onto the already stressful college process, art students like Olivia must submit portfolios for the colleges so they can review their various art pieces as well as academics.

Olivia is “really devoted to everything she does” according to Senior Priya Krishnaswamy, so it is no surprise that Olivia is taking the extra mile.

Olivia is beloved by her teachers and friends alike for her positive attitude.  Senior Blake Talwar described how she “is someone who constantly looks after those around her” and how “she never hesitates to help a friend emotionally.”

Ms. Bielksi credits Olivia with being “the sunshine of [her] classroom.”

“She always asks me how my day is going,” says Krishnaswamy. Although she is often hard at work on an art piece, she is consistently is willing to close her sketchbook for a friendly, cheerful conversation with those around her.

A simple conversation with Olivia will always improve your day, and you will likely walk away feeling much better than before due to her “her welcoming smile, contagious laughter, and amazing humor” according to Senior Litsa Kapsalis.

“Olivia is just one of those caring, genuine, and empathetic people you know. She is an amazing friend [and] artist, and I’m thankful to have in her life,” said Senior Julie Barber, “We’ve had so many memories together. She’s made a big impact on my life and I don’t know what I would do without her.”
