Jack Hartline

Jack Hartline

Free time is scarce for junior Jack Hartline. His devotion to the Varsity Volleyball team is incomparable and this hard-working nature is self-evident on and off the court. Jack’s teammates appreciate his acute concentration on winning.

Hartline was the starting libero for the volleyball team. For those who don’t know, the libero specializes in defense and often finds themselves diving on the ground to just keep the ball in play.

“Jack brings a fiery mentality to the team and is always striving to hit the floor on every play,” said teammate and defensive specialist, junior Calvin McCarthy. “He only accepts perfection.”

Jack’s intensity on the court was a big factor in the team’s successful 23-11 season. His mentality rubbed off on his teammates and was often the spark that the team needed.

“You can recognize Jack by the gym floor burns and bruises on his knees and elbows,” joked  junior Luke Chlystek. “I’ve only seen a few of their games but the way Jack plays is different. It also looks painful.”

If you don’t know Jack from volleyball, you’ve probably had some sort of friendly interaction with him in school. He makes an effort to keep everyone happy, even if he doesn’t know them. This results in a lot of new friends.

“I met Jack this year and I’m so happy I did,” recalled junior Samantha Rubin. “He is genuinely so nice and funny.”

If you want to watch Jack play volleyball, you’ll have to wait until next year. This isn’t the end of the world because he will be just as ‘fiery’. If you don’t want to wait that long to meet him, he’s definitely not hard to approach and will welcome you with nothing but friendliness.
