Tommy Glyman

Tommy Glyman

I approached people in the commons at school and asked them to describe senior Tommy Glyman in one word. There were many common themes that I could identify in the answers given. “Handsome,” “Gorgeous,” and “Jaw-dropping,” were just a few of the words these students described Tommy as, which came as no surprise to me.

But this handsome young man is no numskull whatsoever. When I asked people to give me one word to paint a picture of his personality, the results came back just as positive as before. Words such as “Funny,” “Caring,” and “Empathetic” were exclaimed by these individuals, and once again as no surprise to me.

The truth about Tommy Glyman is that there is nothing really to dislike about him(besides jealousy of course.) It would be easy to flex his academic accomplishments (National Honor Society, Presidential Service Award, and honor roll all eight semesters,) but he shines in more than studies.

Tommy’s extensive list of volunteer jobs could be turned into a twelve-page paper, but here are some of his highlights. He served as a CROYA retreat leader in both his junior and senior year, where he helped lead team building activities and served as a role model. This empathetic quality continues in his “Sherpa” status in the Peer Advance program at the high school. Tommy wakes up early on Wednesdays for Peer Advance meetings, where he learns and revises the lesson plan to teach and discuss with his own group of underclassmen later in the week. The Peer Advance Program teaches problem solving and life-skills to anyone willing to sign up, and Tommy’s involvement should not go unnoticed,

Tommy has worked as a Summer Camp Specialist at the Winter Club for the past two summers where he has built himself a positive reputation around the community for his work with the little kiddos.

Finally, Tommy is honestly regarded in the highest light by his friends.

“Sweet Tea is someone who is positive no matter what and who can always make you laugh and put you in a good mood,” said friend Peter Lynch. “There is never a time you cannot count on Tommy to help you out and be there when you need him.”

Tommy is very excited to be attending The University of Miami in the fall to study economics. He will most definitely make a positive impact on that community just as he does here at LFHS
