The Lake Forest High School Boys Varsity tennis team has quietly put together another incredible season under Head Coach Corky Leighton and Assistant Coach Scott Gilbert.
After being shutout by conference rival Stevenson in their first dual match of the season, the Scouts have rattled off five straight victories over Warren (7-0), Deerfield (4-3), Stevenson (4-3), Fremd (6-1) and Libertyville (7-0). Today, the Scouts will test their mettle on the road at Lake Zurich in a North Suburban Conference dual match.
Top singles players Will Zordani and Oleksyi Vyshyvanyuk have been excellent for the Scouts while Lake Forest’s top doubles pair of Jack Armstrong and Connor Polender won their last match in straight sets without losing a game.
Aside from all of their success in between the lines, however, the Scouts are looking for fan support to help celebrate the careers of their wonderful seniors on Tuesday, April 25th at 3:45 LFHS at the West Campus Tennis Courts. In addition to the seniors, the tennis program will be celebrating Coach Corky Leighton and Coach Scott Gilbert’s recent induction into the Illinois Tennis Coaches Hall of Fame.
Once the festivities are complete in celebrating the seniors, join the Scouts on Saturday, April 29th for a 6:00-8:00pm Fundraiser at the Racquet Club of Lake Bluff (945 North Shore Drive, Lake Bluff, IL ).
The team will be hosting its 4th annual fundraiser on Saturday, which will consist of running drills, teaching techniques and playing games with the youth participants throughout the evening. All skill levels and ages are welcome to attend. The evening will commence with a pizza dinner and dessert. All proceeds from the event will benefit the Robert Lurie Children’s Hospital and the Rex Lewis Family. The cost for this evening and great cause is $40 per player.
