Yesterday, Supreme released their 2018 Spring/Summer lookbook and preview following their teaser posted on Monday of last week. With Supreme gaining increasingly more popularity and a higher resale value over the last year, it’s no doubt that this season will be their most popular yet. These are what I believe will be the top ten most popular items this season.
Supreme/ Stern Pinball Machine
Supreme is no stranger to making outrageous accessories, creating items like the stratocaster fender from the FW17 season and the Heavyweight punching bag from the SS16 season. I have to say though, this might just be the largest and coolest accessory they’ve made. Not only that, it may be the most expensive item Supreme has ever released with a retail value rumored around $10,000. There is truly no telling much the Pinball machine will resell for, considering Supreme is keeping a lot of their items very limited. Large accessories like these are usually extremely limited, usually creating under fifty of the item itself.
Skull Pile Hooded Sweatshirt
The original Design by the company Liquid Blue, the shirt was worn by one of the member of the rap group Three Six Mafia, Juicy J. There have been many leaked photos of this design, with a pair of Vans possibly releasing as a collab this season featuring the design. What will be so popular about this hoodie I believe is the glow in the dark feature of the hoodie which is something Supreme has never done before.
With there not being much hype surrounding leaked photos of the Spring/ Summer tees, one of the tees that has gained a lot of popularity is the Prodigy tee. Prodigy, the rapper, was one of the two members in the rap group Mobb Deep. The image is a cartoonized version of him from his “Shook Ones” music video wearing a Hennessy jersey similar to one that Supreme released several years ago. Supreme most likely designed this tee due to the passing of Prodigy this past year in June.
Supreme Zippo Lighter
Supreme has created multiple different designs of the Zippo lighter because they are always so popular. What is so different about this design though is that there hasn’t been a design in a very long time that has featured the logo being as large as it is across the lighter. What also makes this lighter so popular is the simplicity of it. Many of Supreme’s designs from the late 90s are very simple in this way, so for Supreme to bring this kind of design back is refreshing.
Illegal business Hooded Sweatshirt
This design is not new to supreme, which is why it’s going to be very popular. The line is from the song “Illegal Businesses” by the rapper KRS-One. The original designs are from 2003 and 2007, featuring the logo and the back of a shirt and all over a hoodie in the large font. The original designs rarely surface for sale on resale websites and when they do they’re never below $800. This Hoodie will definitely resell for quite a bit, especially in the red color.
Supreme releases a set of four different style bags each season ranging from backpacks to fanny packs. These small shoulder bags are always quick to sell out due to how cheap they are which is around $50- 60. They are easy to flip for double the cash and are quite fashionable in the street wear community being worn by rappers like A$AP Rocky and fashion mogul Ian Connor.
Supreme/ Playboy Soccer Jersey
Over the years, Supreme has built quite the relationship with the brand Playboy, doing a collaboration every season. Though they have never done a soccer jersey before, I think this will definitely be a popular item this season.
Supreme/ Advanced Elements Packlite Kayak
This is definitely the second largest accessory this season and one of the coolest ever. Supreme is no stranger to collaborating with highly reputable brands to create quality products even if the product is seemingly random. Due to the size and how unusual the item is, this will definitely draw many hypebeasts to start planning a kayaking outing.
Patches Denim Trucker Jacket
Jackets with patches are nothing new for Supreme, but what is so interesting about these particular jackets is the extensive history behind the patches. If you are pretty familiar with Supreme’s history, like myself, the closer you look, the more past designs and characters you will recognize. One of them being the pink Camacho character featured on the right side of the jacket. In 2002, Supreme teamed up with 360 Toy Company to create an actual Camacho toy figure, with fake puffy hair similar to a troll doll. There are also several graphic tee designs featured on the jacket and larger sized version of patches previously placed onto other items in past seasons. This jacket is truly unique with lots of details which is why I think it will be quick to sell out.
Illegal Business Skateboards
As I mentioned earlier, this design is not new to Supreme. Though, these skateboard decks are not something to disregard. With Supreme truly being a skate brand, they have designed and sold multiple skateboard decks over the last 24 years, most of which are hard to obtain–especially if created in a set of decks like these ones. Being able to buy let alone hold onto a set of supreme decks is very difficult especially if the decks are from earlier seasons, like a complete set of Supreme Damien Hirst polka dot decks, which are rarely seen online and if they are, being sold for thousands of dollars. Due to the reputation of this design, owning each one of these decks could be quite the investment a few years from now.
