Shift in Astrology: NASA Alters Zodiac Calendar

Shift in Astrology: NASA Alters Zodiac Calendar

If you are a believer in astrology, you may have recently received–or are about to receive–some shocking news. The 12 zodiac signs that you have faithfully relied on for everything from your ideal partner to what your weekend will be like, have betrayed you. Thanks to science, we now know that the zodiac is incomplete. There are, in fact, 13 signs.

I know, just bear with me.

Apparently the ancient Babylonians chose to leave out the constellation Ophiuchus because it didn’t fit into their 12 month, moon-based, calendar. NASA announced the 13-month zodiac calendar back in January, but for some reason, the people of the internet have chosen to wait until now to panic.

The Earth lines up with each constellation of the zodiac for different periods of time; for example, it points to Scorpio for only 7 days while it points to Virgo for 45 days. This, again, the Babylonians chose to disregard and assigned each of the constellations equal time.

In reality, the zodiac sign dates have never been accurate and they are constantly shifting. According to the aforementioned, earth-shattering, NASA announcement, “Now, 3,000 years later, the sky has shifted because Earth’s axis (North Pole) doesn’t point in quite the same direction”.

I understand that your zodiac sign may be something you hold dear and may encapsulate a significant part of your identity. Therefore, if you wish to continue your life blissfully unaware of your new sign, I suggest you stop reading.

The new zodiac sign dates are, drumroll please….

Capricorn- January 20 – February 16

Aquarius- February 16 – March 11

Pisces- March 11 – April 18

Aries- April 18 – May 13

Taurus- May 13 – June 21

Gemini- June 21 – July 20

Cancer- July 20 – August 10

Leo- August 10 – September 16

Virgo- September 16 – October 30

Libra- October 30 – November 23

Scorpio- November 23 – November 29

Ophiuchus- November 29 – December 17

Sagittarius- December 17 – January 20

If this is upsetting or has completely altered your world view, all apologies. How dare science declare untrue what so many people wholeheartedly blindly believed in? If you wish, live on happily, in denial of this so-called “correction”. But, if you never really identified with your Zodiac sign, take this opportunity to reinvent yourself according to your new jurisdiction in the calendar.

For reference, I was born on November 18th, but have never really felt like a scorpio. Fierce, zealous, and intense are not three of the first adjectives I would use to describe myself. But according to the aforementioned switch, I’m now a Libra. Cooperative, indecisive, peaceful, adverse to confrontation and being alone–that sounds exactly like me. So while lovers of astrology may find NASA’s proclamation unsettling, check out your “new” sign, maybe it will be a good thing after all.

And for all of those with tattoos of their astrological sign, again, all apologies.
