Scouts test their mettle against nation’s best team in trip to Indianapolis

This past weekend the Scouts traveled to Indianapolis to take on Cathedral High School and Culver Academy, the top ranked team in the country. Despite losing to both teams, the Scouts battled hard and learned some valuable lessons that they will carry with them for the rest of the season.

In the first game on Friday night, the Scouts got off to a slow start and found themselves down 4-0. However, they were able to close the gap to one goal with less than two minutes left on the clock. While they dropped the game by an eventual score of 6-5, the Scouts made things interesting in the early part of the fourth quarter thanks to goals by Jack Mislinski and Connor Armstrong. In fact, Mislinski scored four of the Scouts’ five goals. Unfortunately, the Scouts were plagued by multiple turnovers and were unable to overcome the four goal deficit.

On Saturday, the Scouts played Culver Academy, a team who was going into the matchup with an undefeated record and the country’s number one ranking. With its depth and consistency, Culver had no trouble with the Scouts, as they stormed to a 22-1 victory. Connor Armstrong had the lone goal for the Scouts in a game that was dominated by Culver on both sides of the ball.

After dropping back to back non-conference games, the Scouts will look to get back on track Tuesday night when they host St. Viator (10-2). This game will be broadcasted live on MaxPreps if you are unable to make it to West Campus for the 6:30 p.m. start.
