Scouts take on NSC-leading Patriots in Saturday showdown

Scouts+take+on+NSC-leading+Patriots+in+Saturday+showdown

On December 6, coach Pat Ambrose’s Stevenson Patriots came into the Competition Gym and walked away with a ten-point victory. They controlled the game in all facets from the tip and never let the Scouts gain any sort of momentum. However, both teams are much improved now and this game is expected to go a lot differently.

Stevenson leads the North Suburban Conference and is red hot with five straight wins. They’re holding an impressive (12-6) overall record with only two conference losses to Mundelein and Zion Benton. They’re led by guards Matt Ambrose and Jackson Qualley, who both shoot the ball well. Coach Ambrose’s teams are always very disciplined and fundamentally-sound, making them a tough beat.

Lake Forest is coming off a one-point loss to Glenbrook South, a game in which they trailed for much of the way but came back to take the lead towards the end. The Scouts received lots of production from many different players in that game, but no one scored more than 11, a number that will likely need to increase if they want to pull the upset over the Patriots. Tomorrow’s game is expected to go in favor of Stevenson, but if Lake Forest can compete the way they did in their three prior conference wins that preceded the GBS loss, don’t be surprised to see Coach LaScala’s team earn the win.

Be sure to cheer on the Scouts on Saturday at Stevenson High School when the rivalry game tips off at 5:30pm.
