What Happened: Just this past Thursday, the Girls Swim and Dive team swam against the Mundelein Mustangs. There were many close races, like the Varsity 400 freestyle relay and the JV 50 freestyle. The team swam hard, with JV winning and Varsity coming close behind.

Key Swimmer/Diver: Taylor Cekay, a freshman diver, threw many new dives and impressed judges this past Thursday. She received second place overall for varsity with a score of 204.5!

Key Swim: Senior Megan Grumhaus dropped 20 seconds in her 500 freestyle, a very impressive feet for swimming 20 laps!

“Everybody did a great job at the meet. A lot of the divers threw new dives and totally crushed it. You couldn’t tell that they were new, I am very proud of the team” said Cassy King, dive Captain.

A dive parent also reached out to show her support for the team.  “The Girl’s diving team is off to a great start under 2nd year coach Patrick Schulze,” she said.  “After finishing 8th at the Lake Forest Relays in their first meet, the team has proven they are gaining momentum in their next two dual meets. Varsity divers Junior Abby Rich placed 5th and Freshman Taylor Cekay placed 3rd, while Senior Shaffer Franklin placed 4th for JV against very competitive New Trier squads.”

The next meet is Sept. 20th against the Warren Blue Devils at home.
