Every year in May, the students of Lake Forest vote on candidates to represent their class and the entire student bodyat large in the annual Student Council elections. All members of the council, regardless of their position, put a lot of time and effort to make our school a better place. All the students running for class and overall student body president are highly qualified students that would make our school proud. Voting begins on Wednesday May 10th. Here is an overview of all of the candidates running:
OVERALL STUDENT BODY PRESIDENT:
Trisha Bhagat: Trisha is currently the junior Class President and is running her third campaign for the presidential spot. She is a member of the badminton team, women’s club, math team, Big to Little, Madrigals, and National Honor Society. Trisha would make a great president because of her outgoing personality and dedication to our school.
Drew Arnson: Drew is currently the junior class vice president, and is also running his third presidential campaign. He currently is a part of Link Crew, NHS, Basketball, and Tennis for the high school, and is a GLASA counselor and an NVA basketball coach. As president, Drew hopes to give students a voice and give them the chance to share their positive ideas.
SENIOR CLASS PRESIDENT:
Emilia Field: Emilia is currently a member of the junior student council cabinet. In her free time, Emilia rows and is a member of women’s club, a popular service club at the high school. She would make a great senior class president because she always has a positive attitude and is a great leader.
Colin McDonnell: Colin is currently the junior class Secretary and is campaigning again for the same position. Colin plays baseball for the high school and is a member of Big to Little and Link Crew. Colin would make a great secretary because he is hardworking and friendly to all.
JUNIOR CLASS PRESIDENT:
Eddie Scheidler: Eddie is currently the sophomore class President and he is running his second presidential campaign. Eddie plays football and basketball for LFHS and would make a great president because of his sense of humor and his kind character.
JD O’Keane: JD is currently the sophomore Vice President and is also running for the presidential spot. JD plays football for the high school and would make a great president because of his commitment to our school.
JUNIOR VICE PRESIDENT:
Claire Mahoney: Claire is currently a sophomore cabinet member. In her free time, Claire plays volleyball for the school, and also plays the flute. Claire would be a great VP because this would be her 7th year in a row as a member of Student Council, and she is friendly and kind to everyone she meets.
Julia Kuetemeyer: Julia is currently the sophomore Secretary and is running again for the same position. Julia plays field hockey and lacrosse and would be a great secretary because of her leadership skills.
SOPHOMORE CLASS PRESIDENT:
Sarah Bires: Sarah is currently a freshman member of Student Council who plays soccer, basketball, and is a member of Women’s Club and Bel Cantos, a christmas acapella choir at the high school. Sarah would be a great president because she is a great leader and has four years of experience on student council.
Frances Hickey (left): Frances is a freshman member of student council who played soccer and ran track this year. She is also an active member of CROYA. She hopes to help plan homecoming next year as president.
Sydney Mullady (right): Sydney has 9 years of student council experience, and is a member of the school’s band and golf team. She hopes to increase school spirit and strengthen bonds between classmates this year as president.
SOPHOMORE VICE PRESIDENT:
Haley Banta: Haley is a member of CROYA, First Presbyterian church’s youth group, women’s club, latin club, and the field hockey team. She hopes to make positive changes to the high school as VP.
Maggie Bires (left): Maggie is a member of Women’s Vlub, the cheerleading team, and the gymnastics team. As secretary, she hopes to create a space for underclassmen to relax like the commons.
Bridget Mitchell (right): Bridget is a member of Women’s Club, and is an active soccer player. She hopes to be secretary just as her mom was when she was in high school.
