You Know You Went to LBMS When…

A+sign+hanging+from+a+tree

You know you went to LBMS when…

  • You are obsessed with Otis Spunkmeyer cookies but only if they’re dangerously undercooked.
  • You understand the intricate and thriving gum trafficking network, and knew who was dealing what flavor.
  • You still feel guilty about walking on bleachers.
  • You still do the fingertips test on your shorts sometimes and laugh about how much trouble you would’ve gotten in for them.
  • You’ve been called a troll and buffoon so many times you’d take it as a compliment at this point.
  • You spent countless hours looking up at the ceiling of the LMC wondering what the yellow bars were for.
  • You walked past the pencil, pen, eraser, and paper vending machine every day and never used it, except maybe once out of curiosity to see if it even worked.
  • You dreaded changing into the blue and yellow unisex gym uniforms that no one ever washed.
  • You felt really cool when you walked uptown after school on fridays to sit at Lulus (or the Village Market, The Daily Grind, or Wisma, depending on what was available), especially if you *gasp* went with the opposite gender.
  • You never understood the point of Project Citizen, especially in a town with so few problems for a group of ambitious 13-year-olds to tackle.
  • You were slightly afraid of Kathy Ohara and could recognize her BMW convertible from a mile away.
  • You were pumped when 7th grade came around and you were upgraded from sitting on the floor at assemblies to sitting in the bleachers.
  • You took the Wheel Of Wisdom very seriously.
  • You participated in band, chorus and/or the musical even if you had exactly 0 musical talent, because everyone did.
  • You have a photo of your grade in front of the Capitol Building in DC with a couple kids inexplicably appearing twice.
  • You were jealous of the Encore! and Jazz Band kids when they got to go to Six Flags, but not when they had to be at school early twice a week.
  • You believe, from the bottom of your heart, that Lake Bluff is superior to Lake Forest and you are willing to debate anyone about it at any moment.
