The Lake Forest High School boys tennis team loses four seniors, a junior, and a fourth place finishing duo in doubles at the IHSA State semifinals last year. The Scouts lost the two members of the doubles duo, Jack Armstrong, who graduated in 2017, and Connor Polender, who graduated early from LFHS to pursue his golf career in Florida. The three other graduating seniors from last year’s team were Reed Burke, Riccardo Falleti, and Jack Lazarus. With all of those players gone, many new opportunities will be seized by Lake Forest’s talented group of players
This year’s squad returns seniors Jack Pasquella and Daniel Beedle, who also made it to state for doubles last May. Two other members of the returning team that participated in the IHSA State Finals were juniors Will Zordani and Oleski Vyshyvanyuk. Coach Corky Leighton and Coach Scott Gilbert also both return for the Scouts after leading the Scouts to their first state trophy since back-to-back-to-back trophies in ‘12 (3rd), ‘13 (2nd), and ‘14 (2nd).
The captains for this year’s team are seniors Drew Arnson, Jack Pasquella, and Sam Warren. Yusef Alsikafi and Daniel Beedle are three year varsity players who will be looking to have their most successful seasons yet at the varsity level. Some players to watch are returning seniors Pasquella, Beedle, and Alsikafi, as well as Junior Will Zordani.
The roster will not be finalized until tryouts are finished in March, but captain Drew Arnson says, “This years team has a good combination of youth and experience and should be making some noise in May.”
