Homecoming is right around the corner and, as you all know, the stress of finding a dress as well as deciding on hair and makeup styles can be overwhelming if you don’t know what to look for. Our fashion team did some looking around and found some possible hairstyles, dresses, shoes and makeup looks that would be perfect for this fun, fall night at LFHS.
Possible Dress Ideas:
Something flowy and short is definitely trending up this fall season. Traditionally, short dresses are the style for Lake Forest Homecoming–whether it’s off the shoulder, rompers or halter dresses, stores like Tobi and Nordstroms have a variety of styles and dresses to choose from. Just because the short dress tradition exists doesn’t mean it’s a necessity, however. Instead, you could go with what fits you and what style you are comfortable in that you feel suits you best. There are many other shops like Bloomingdales, Cusp, and Lulus where you can find dresses as well!
Possible Shoe Ideas:
You can find heels like the ones pictured below at any of the stores mentioned above. People usually do wear some sort of heeled shoe, but sandals are also a popular choice. These are just a few trendy suggestions!
Makeup and Hair Ideas:
Homecoming in general is the more casual dance of the two dances (three for upperclassmen because of Prom) we have every year, so it’s a good idea to keep it natural. The options here range from very basic to more glittery, but what is most important is to do what makes you feel the most comfortable in pictures.
For your hairstyle, it’s also never a bad idea to just keep it natural, especially if it’s longer than normal from the summer months. These are a few options that you could get inspiration from if you want to spruce things up a little for the dance. You can spruce up a top knot with a upside down dutch braid. Another classic is a half-up look which you can keep classic, twist into this pretty flower-type bun, or give it some fun volume with curls beach waves. The final style we showed is the most simple with just some hair pinned behind the ear, it’s simple and still on trend.
