USC

The University of Southern California or USC, has one of the more high-fashion styles in the US, being, of course, located in Los Angeles, California. On the weekends, students wear of-the-moment fashion while still fashioning the USC colors of cardinal red and gold for game days. The climate of USC also affects their style. The warmer California weather allows them to wear shorts and skirts longer into the fall and earlier in the spring. On a daily basis, they can often be found in jean shorts and a graphic tee. Unlike other schools, the students at USC don’t usually go casual when heading to classes. The style at USC, very simply, could be described as trendy in a warmer climate.

UNIVERSITY OF ILLINOIS at URBANA-CHAMPAIGN

University of Illinois is another midwestern school, so they most often rock the midwestern casual style. When going to classes, students can be found in athleisure: leggings, t-shirts, and sweatshirts. They also have a strong greek presence on campus and when going to events they often wear jeans and a cute t-shirt; but for formals the girls know how to dress up. On the weekends, the students still keep it casual, but they are a bit nicer than their day-to-day and wear more fashion-forward outfits. U of I is probably the most similar to LF’s everyday style of the schools we are looking at today.

UNIVERSITY OF MICHIGAN

University of Michigan is located in Ann Arbor, Michigan. It is the rival school of Michigan State and Ohio State and another midwestern school rooted in casual style. When walking to class they usually keep it casual with leggings and a graphic tee or athleisure wear. University of Michigan is a Big 10 school, so the students go all out in blue and gold on game days. The weekend apparel varies based on the season, but they favor blue and gold year round. The overall feel of the style on this campus is very fun, but definitely casual.

CLEMSON

Clemson University which is in South Carolina, contrary to the College of Charleston, does follow the typical style for a southern school. The fashion seen at the university is much nicer than other schools. Day to day, they can be found in a t-shirt and jean shorts, a change from the athleisure look often seen on college campuses. They also tend to dress a bit nicer when going out on the weekends or to football games, often donning shirts and blouses or trendy summer dresses. Overall, the style is nicer casual with a southern vibe.

FORDHAM

Fordham University is in New York, but what’s different about Fordham is that they have two campuses. They have one campus in Lincoln Center in Manhattan and a campus in the Bronx that the students commute between everyday. The style at this school is nicer than a midwestern school would be, but not in the way a southern school is. On a day-to-day basis the students here wear anything from jeans and a t-shirt or sweater to leggings and a sweatshirt. On the weekends, Fordham students attend basketball or football games in university apparel or make their way downtown in stylish outfits. The style at Fordham can vary between the campuses, but the vibe of the campus is nice casual.

MIAMI UNIVERSITY

University of Miami in Coral Gables, Florida is definitely a southern school in one of the southern-most parts of the country, but their style does not reflect that. On the weekends, it’s hard to find a student not sporting the school’s colors of green and orange, especially on game days. However, the students do show a strong affection for the school colors any day of the week. When wearing the school colors, they tend to go more casual but the students definitely wear up-to-date, trendy styles. University of Miami’s style is also highly affected by the climate. Their outfits often consist of less clothing, due to the heat, and sometimes even bathing suits for pool parties. Overall, the style at Miami is fast-paced, upbeat and fun while still a bit casual.

VANDERBILT

Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee, also known as Vandy, is a borderline southern school but their style is more midwestern than anything. When going out or on the weekends they wear cuter clothes like jean skirts, jeans and trendy tops. There are fraternities and sororities on campus and they are a big part of the campus social scene, so students can often be found in greek gear. Overall, the style is trendy yet casual for the southern feel of the campus.

COLLEGE OF CHARLESTON

The College of Charleston is a small school in Charleston, South Carolina. It’s on the coast of the Atlantic Ocean, somewhat in the south but they do not show the traditional southern style. On the weekends they keep it casual while still stylish in jeans and cute t-shirts as well as nicer blouses with skirts depending on the location. Since Charleston is off the coast, on the weekends they also go to the beach, where they tend to don fashion-forward bathing suits. But, on a daily basis, they tend to go more casual.
