It’s Sectional Semifinal Monday at Libertyville High School tonight! In the first contest, the #5 seed Lake Forest Scouts (23-9) will square off against the Libertyville Sectional’s top seed, the Mid Suburban League Champion Hersey Huskies (26-3) of Arlington Heights.

Keys to the Game:
Lake Forest comes into the game on a 5-game winning streak and off of a rugged 31-28 win over #4 Warren in the Warren (Twp.) Regional Final. Hersey comes off of a 44-20 win over Lake Zurich in the Wauconda Regional Final. Hersey comes in on a 7-game winning streak with their last loss coming at the hands of the Glenbrook South Titans on January 28th in Glenview.
Currently, the Huskies are ranked 8th in the state of Illinois by Maxpreps.com, having outscored their opponent by 588 points on the year (1661-1073). The Scouts are ranked are currently unranked and have outscored their opponents by 144 points on the year (1407-1263).
Rebounding will be at a premium tonight as the Scouts boast numerous post players with rebounding prowess such as O. Douglass, Summerville, Tirzmalis, and sophomore Ellie Pearson. The Huskies are known for sharing the basketball and are among the Illinois state leaders in assists. On the other side of the ball, however, Delaney Williams of Lake Forest is the school’s all-time leader in steals. Halle Douglass, a tall 6’0″ guard, also has a knack for steals on the defensive end.
By the Numbers:
Lake Forest is competing in its first IHSA Sectional since 2005. The NSC member school has 3 regional titles in its program’s history and are in search of their first IHSA Sectional Championship. Hersey is competing in their 4th straight IHSA Sectional. The school has won 16 IHSA Regional Championships in their school’s history, while also claiming 2 IHSA Sectional Championships (’94, ’10). Their furthest advancement came in the 2010 season when the Huskies finished their season 4th in the state of Illinois.
