English teacher Mr. John Wanninger is an avid fan of music who appreciates the underground, found-it-on-my-own favorites as well as the pop radio hits. With the passing of each season, you can count on Mr. Wanninger curating a seasonal playlist to help his fellow music enthusiasts fully delve into the seasonal mood. Of course, with it being Christmas season, Mr. Wanninger has recently released his newest masterpiece, “The Indie Christmas Spectacular.”
Mr. Wanninger, who desrcibes his musical palette as, “mostly indie-pop with undertones of old school alternative and new wave with a just a hint of electronic,” brings us Christmas tunes from some unconventional artists. For example, “The Indie Christmas Spectacular” features bands that won’t appear on 93.9 FM’s continuous loop such as The Killers, Blitzen Trapper, My Morning Jacket, and Jimmy Eat World.
So give it a listen, find some under-the-radar, out-of-the-limelight favorite, share it with your friends, claim it as your own, and then thank me (or more appropriately, Mr. Wanninger) later on.
