In Jenna Grossman’s weekly column, College Corner, she profiles at least three individuals who have made their college decision and are enthusiastic and confident in tackling the next four years of their education.
Student: Ashley Moehlenpah
College/University: Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD)
Location: Savannah, Georgia
Why they decided to go: “I picked SCAD because when I got there, I finally felt like I could breathe. I saw the abundance of opportunities ahead and I knew that my future would be surrounded with creative, like-minded students. The programs and the networking there is amazing. I am beyond ecstatic for my next four years, my roommates, my professors, and my experience. Can’t wait to call SCAD my home!” – Ashley Moehlenpah
Intended area of study: Major: Film & Television, Major: Business Management & Entrepreneurship
Student: Sarah Manella
College/University: Parsons The New School of Design
Location: New York City, New York/
Why they decided to go: “Parsons has been my top choice for a few years now, but it always seemed like more of a fantasy rather than a real life thing. It’s reputation is pretty intimidating. It was one of those things where it’s like ‘yeah I’ll apply- I’ll never get in but at least I tried’ and I tried really, really hard. And, hey, I got in! How? I don’t know! I wanted an environment where I can grow as an artist, express myself artistically while still pursuing a liberal arts degree. It’s also in the middle of Manhattan. Who wouldn’t want to be 18 in NYC?” – Sarah Manella
Intended area of study: Undecided dual BA/BFA degree
Student: Ross Adelman
College/University: Suffolk University
Location: Boston, Massachusetts
Why they decided to go: “I picked Suffolk for many reasons. My brother who is 11 years older than me attended Boston University and heavily influenced me to go to the east coast, primarily Boston. He now lives in NYC and with him being close by it slightly reduces the amount of worry my parents have. I was also awarded a $40,000 scholarship which was a very nice accolade to go along with acceptance to the school.” – Ross Adelman
Intended area of study: Communications, Public Relations, Advertising, or Marketing.
