Stephanie Izard is owner and chef of some of the top restaurants in the West Loop of Chicago, the most popular restaurant hub in the city. She was born in Chicago and raised in Connecticut. After going to culinary school in Arizona, she made her way back to Chicago in 2000 to start her professional life. After cooking at many different restaurants in the Chicagoland area she opened up her own restaurant in 2014, Scylla, located in Bucktown.
Years later, she received the opportunity to compete on the Bravo’s television show Top Chef. She ended up winning and gained a lot of publicity and popularity. After the show, the idea of a restaurant popped into her head: Girl & the Goat. Carefully, Izard picked out the perfect location to make her dreams a reality. She decided on the West Loop which has recently become a very popular location in Chicago. In the summer of 2010 Girl & the Goat welcomed in hungry customers for the first time. Quickly, the restaurant gained popularity and people raved over the amazing dishes. Without a reservation, it is nearly impossible to get seated.
With all of the good press, Izard decided to open another restaurant just across the street from Girl & the Goat, the Little Goat Diner. Now, just around the corner of Little Goat Diner on Fulton, Duck Duck Goat opened and unleashed more unique flavors.
Not only has Girl & the Goat become popular but all three restaurants have gained notoriety in the West Loop. They are always busy, but the wait is definitely worth it. As I am on my search to eat the best food and find the best restaurants, Izard’s restaurants will always be at the top of my list. Each restaurant has a complete different style and flavors to choose from. From classic American fare to Chinese cuisine, each meal has a uniqueness to it with its flavors. Izard has done a terrific job and is surprising many people with her remarkable food.
