The Lady Scouts take on the Warren Blue Devils tomorrow night at 7:00 p.m. in a primetime NSC matchup. The Scouts’ huge win against conference foe Stevenson was the first of head coach Kyle Wilhelm against the Patriots in his tenure at the high school. With the win, the Scouts put themselves at second place in their conference (trailing Warren by one game) and also put themselves in a great spot to challenge for their first NSC conference title in some time.

Currently, the Blue Devils are in first place and have been led consistently by senior guard and Wake Forest commit Kaylen Dickson. The Scouts are very familiar with Warren and Dickson considering they have already played them twice this year and have split the decision. In the conference matchup in which they won, the Scouts offense was firing on all cylinders. In their holiday tournament loss, the Scouts failed to manage 40 total points. In Saturday’s game, the Scouts offensive output will be a deciding factor in who takes home the NSC regular season title. Look for sophomore guard Halle Douglass and junior post Ellie Pearson to star in scoring roles on Saturday for the Scouts. If the Scouts can contain Dickson and limit turnovers, they will give themselves a great chance to vault into first place in the always competitive NSC and could perhaps earn a #1 seed in their upcoming sectional. Look forward to a tight and scrappy matchup Saturday night between two of the conference’s best as the Scouts travel to Gurnee

Additionally, coming off their first two-game win streak of the season in the NSC, the boys varsity basketball team will look to continue to improve their success as they make the trek north to take on the Warren Blue Devils in a conference matchup at 5:30 on Saturday night. The Scouts had a very impressive 58-48 win over the Waukegan Bulldogs on Wednesday night. Seniors Mead Payne and Ben Gibson put together strong performances as they combined to score 41 of the team’s 58 points. The Scouts lost their first clash with the Blue Devils this season by a score of 52-42 and Warren’s star Branden Ellis was a main factor in that result. The star senior played a crucial role in Warren’s successful 1-2-2 zone that forced the Scouts into turning the ball over 13 times.

In order to avenge their earlier season loss, the Scouts will need to take care of the basketball and try to feed senior posts Mead Payne, Drew Arnson, and Kyle Waggoner as much as possible. With a win, the Scouts would push their conference record to 3-5 and also would extend their win streak to a season high three games. With regionals only a month or so out, it is crucial that the Scouts bolster their resume as soon as possible. A win Saturday night would give the Scouts another strong conference win. Come out and support the boys as they try to make it three in a row against NSC opponents.
