On Monday night, junior offensive lineman Chase Bahr received his first roster spot offer from the University of Pennsylvania. The Quakers compete in the Ivy League conference and finished 6-4 this past season. Due to their high academic standards and their affiliation with the Ivy League, Penn’s unable to offer athletic scholarships to prospective student-athletes.
This past summer, Bahr visited some northeastern schools for football camps, all with a common thread. Top notch academic schools like Dartmouth and Middlebury along with others were among his destinations. It’s obvious that the left tackle is striving for continued achievement in the classroom.
Bahr was sidelined a few games this fall due to a concussion, but started all healthy contests at left tackle. Listed at 6’4” 270 per his Twitter, Bahr’s size and potential to play guard or tackle at the collegiate level appeals to many coaches. It shouldn’t come as a surprise if Bahr secures more high academic roster-spots this spring and summer.
